. . . has for more than 20 years coached senior executives on career transition and leadership development. He founded Coaching Gravitas LLC to help senior executives improve their leadership of self and of others, leveraging his 40 years of professional experience to facilitate reflective analysis. This includes C-Level succession planning, Hi-Po acceleration, and Hi-Pro potentiation.
Carlos began his career in line management, progressed through operations strategy consulting, and has been in retained executive search for more than 20 years. He is currently a Partner at ECB STAR Group, recruiting senior executives across all industry sectors. Prior, he was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles, where he led the Los Angeles office and the Global Supply Chain & Operations Officers Practice. Earlier still, Carlos led executive search engagements as Senior Client Partner at Korn Ferry.
Before his two decades in Executive Search, Carlos worked at Booz & Co for 11 years in the Operations and Manufacturing Strategy Group, leading business transformation programs across the Americas and in Europe. Earlier still, he was in key production management and strategic planning roles at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
Carlos has lived and worked in the US, Europe, and Latin America. Reflecting his multinational experience and multicultural effectiveness, Carlos led international search engagements for exceptional leaders in the world’s increasingly complex and dynamic global supply chains. He is fluent in Spanish and English, and conversational in French.
Carlos served on the board of directors of Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services for 14 years, two as Board Chair, until 2023 (and remains a Board Advisor). He is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), and the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).
Carlos is certified as an Executive Coach by the Hudson Institue of Coaching and credentialed by the ICF. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University, where he completed a triple concentration in Operations Management, Marketing, and Management of Organizations. He was awarded the McKim Fellowship (two years) at the Columbia Business School. Carlos earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Haverford College.
Carlos and his wife relocated 13 times internationally, with children and pets in tow, and still love to travel. They reside in Calabasas near their four sons and one grandson. A rescued Terri-Poo completes their immediate family.
